Social Media

How to Use Social Media

Social media is often the first-place people go to “peek through the window” of your parish. It helps them understand your community, your values, and what they can expect on a Sunday.

Why it matters:

  • People want to know what they’re walking into before they come.
  • It gives newcomers a sense of your people, your welcome, and your parish life.
  • It keeps your congregation connected between Sundays and informs them of events in the life of the church.

Keep it simple:

  • Post real moments, not staged ones.
  • Keep service information clear and easy to find.
  • Use consistent colours, fonts and logos so your social pages feel recognisable.
  • Maintain authenticity — what people see online should match what they experience in person.

What works well:

  • Photos of people (all ages)
  • Reels / short video clips of parish life
  • Sunday service reminders
  • Events, testimonies, and moments of prayer or encouragement
